The specific objective of these
classes is to promote interest in Amateur Radio, and strengthen the emergency response
capabilities of both the Tallahassee Amateur Radio
Society, and the
Capital Area Chapter of the ARC.
Even if you're not interested in emergency response
communications, and just want to get an amateur radio
license, or are intrigued by how radio works, you are
more than welcome to attend the classes.
The training will be geared toward
the entry-level Technician class amateur radio license,
which has no Morse Code requirement. Class time
will be partitioned, however, and the Morse Code will
be presented in the first portion of each class day.
The classes are open to the
public, and are free of charge.
The Technician class license
examination consists of 35 questions, and a 75% score
or better is the passing grade. You can also find
the entire Technician class question pool, and
associated diagrams further down the page.
There is a testing fee of $14 at
the conclusion of the training, to cover the costs of
examination materials and postage for sending in the
results. Attendees will be able to sit for an
exam at the next regular testing session.
Information on testing sessions
can be found here.
If you would like to get a head
start on the the material, feel free to download
